The journey of a lifetime?

All aboard!

The train ride was great! 12 hours long, but great! It was like being in the wild west in the morning and a few of us tried hanging out of the door to watch the world go by. We were told by the locals 'danger!' then found out that a fair few deaths are caused this way! Ooops.

We met some very nice people on the train and bought some delicious food and drinks as well. It was almost exactly as we expected, but more fun! There was a lovely atmosphere on the train and it was peaceful until ladies woke up and Bridget got the giggles.
(By the way, we were a lot quieter on the train ride there, than on the way back.)
We are now in a very hot and humid Madurai, wilting rapidly. Words and photos cannot explain the unbelieveable noises and sights. We ltell you all when we return.

Dinner with Murugan and Father Richard - president of Goodwill Children's Homes

Barefoot at the temple caused some very hot feet

Inside the temple we saw some amazing sights ...

and Chrissy got blessed by an elephant!

An ordinary street?

    2) Which motorway passes trhough Kent, Hertfordshire, Essex, Surrey and Hampshire?
    3) Dakar is the capital of which West African country?
    4) Which Russian born aircraft engineer flew the prototype of the world's first mass-produced helicopter?
    5) Which 1975 oscar winning film ends with an Indian chief suffocating the main character and escaping through a window?

Oooooo that reminds me so much of crazy train rides I've enjoyed in the past! Fran - what did you do?! Hope your tummies are coping. Can't wait to hear your stories of meeting the children. Tahlia said the other day 'We need to go on holiday to see Fran and Roger, don't we mum?!' Bingo!
    Big hug
    Ali
